Current conditions

A stationary and extensive low-pressure system centered over Western Europe will continue to dominate the weather in the Alpine region until the weekend. From Friday onwards, the airflow will clearly shift to the south again, causing the foehn wind in the mountains to reach storm strength once more. This pattern will persist with little change on Saturday and Sunday. On Friday, conditions will generally be mostly dry, although clouds will be more compact towards the south compared to north of the main Alpine ridge. However, the presence of Saharan dust will introduce uncertainties in the cloud forecast. Similar uncertainties are likely to persist over the weekend, affecting the possibility of precipitation. Over the weekend, a mix of sun and clouds will prevail north of the main Alpine ridge, remaining dry and pleasant. However, it will be cloudier around the main Alpine ridge, with occasional light precipitation possible. The snow line will be around 1900 meters above sea level. By Monday night, foehn winds are expected to weaken, while precipitation will intensify around the main Alpine ridge and weaken as it will spread towards the northern edge of the Alps. Weather conditions will calm down towards Tuesday, with a temporary slight drop in temperatures.
„As a meteorologist in the region, I am not only very familiar with the small-scale meteorological particuliarities that distinguish the Arlberg region from other regions, but also with the demands that locals and guests place on a regional weather report.“
