Current conditions
A low-pressure system over the British Isles will remain largely stationary until Thursday. This means that the large-scale flow over the Alps will remain southwesterly for now, and we will continue to experience changeable, fairly mild weather with foehn winds. Stored frontal systems will continue to be weakened by foehn-like southerly winds in the mountains. Nevertheless, the disturbances will affect us with their extensive cloud fields and thus also bring increasing precipitation in our direction. On Wednesday, heavy cloud cover will prevail, and there may be repeated light to moderate rain around midday. On Thursday, the south foehn wind will pick up and herald the arrival of a stronger cold front. This will bring colder air to us from the late afternoon onwards, causing the snow line to drop below 2000 meters above sea level for a sustained period. Behind the front, the supply of colder air masses will remain unchanged from Friday to the weekend, although the wind may turn back to the southwest and there will be further periods of foehn weather. Overall, however, the weather will remain changeable, with further showers possible in our direction.
„As a meteorologist in the region, I am not only very familiar with the small-scale meteorological particuliarities that distinguish the Arlberg region from other regions, but also with the demands that locals and guests place on a regional weather report.“
